Rocket to Insanity: Rocket to Redemption 1 by seventozen Rocket to Insanity: Rocket to Redemption 1 by seventozen
Ponies apparently have socialized medicine, 'cause that's some high technology right there. I realize now that the red surgeon looks like a female Big Macintosh, and that's interesting, since I picked a pencil at random for the coat color. I also had to invent equestrian hair nets, because cleanliness is key!

Pinkie has Type AB- blood, I think the rarest blood type there is. Fitting, seeing as she really is one of a kind. Also, noting that she is "hard to keep under", a carry-over from the idea that Pinkie's energy level might even trump anesthesia. Problem?

The "doctor speak" comes from having a veterinarian for a parent. And what is this branch of medicine anyway? One species of animal operating on another? Is it still veterinary medicine? Or... what?

Listened to this song while working: [link]

And listened to the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 song like 30 times today. Still love it. :)

Comments are appreciated and very encouraged!

AB- might not be the rarest blood type in the Philippines; Wikipedia just lists "<1%" for all Rh- blood types there. Probably it is the rarest there, though.
This is just ordinary medicine. Members of a species operating on other members of the same species. There's nothing remotely veterinary about it.

Equestrian overall technology seems around equivalent to that of American c. 1850, with medical technology around a century in advance and weapons technology around a century behind our level.  I think this is a combination of the Ponies being normally much less violent than our species, with deliberate encouragement on the part of Celestia to develop the life-saving arts.

Agreed, good analysis

(Though I tread lightly concerning royalty due to what started in season 3... It still makes me ill)

That all makes sense. I've realized that in the show, there are a few exmples of modern human technology, but for the most part (and for sake of continuity in the comic) it does seem to be more of an industrial revolution era type deal.

Although, if 1/3 of your populace can do magic, why would you need things like painkillers? It's an interesting blend of human medicine, alchemy, potions and spellcasting. It's a lot of fun to draw too. :)

Sorry to bother you again, but I'd like to know. What's it say of the IV bag, and what is it filled with? I don't mean the one with the blood.
Also, "the wash" is it in the needle? What is it, and what does it do?

VSF Hydrox. Sol. (Solution)

Hoofington Med.

And yes, the wash is in the needle. It's actually more of an applicator device more than an injection. It's usually a sterile saline solution that can be used to clean out cuts and things when putting a cloth in is to difficult.

"50 CLS of Magi-rub" what is that?
"...Oxygen saturation's getting low, up it to 30 p..." Up it to 30 what?
"...and Ramp her KC feed up to 150 torcel, she's not easy to keep under..." What does KC feed mean?

I'm interested.

Magi rub, thinking that since 1/3 of their society has the ability to perform magic, that that should apply in medicine somewhere

Oxy sat. the amount of oxygen in the bloodstream, P is just shorthand for PPM, parts per million, and in this case the ratio of O2 to ambient air being inhaled

KC feed, kardiac (german syntax) control, it's an IV term used to designate how much MeSH (Methanethianol) is being injected per minute.

Hope this answers your question.:)

Are those scalpels on the tray? If so, why would they need it? They're just closing the wounds.

in some cases you need to remove the mutilated flesh to have a clean suture area.

This... is AWESOME! I really wish I knew more about medical science. Especially since I'm working on a comic were Pinkie needs surgery... badly. So, your veterinarian parent taught you about the medical info that you displayed in this page?
